b-29 superfortress “Doc” is coming to wings over houston airshow in 2022
One of only TWO remaining flying B-29’s in the world!
We are thrilled to announce to you that the B-29 Superfortress “Doc” will be coming to the Wings Over Houston Airshow October 29th and 30th! From the great World War, to the Korean air war, into the 1960’s, to the Mojave Desert – this airplane has stories to tell. You will be able to touch, feel, and tour this extremely rare warbird (only 1 of 2 flying B-29’s remaining). So make plans to come out this October and see for yourself!
Check out this video about the restoration of the B-29 Superfortress “Doc”. This was decades in the making!
UPDATE TO THE VIDEO: With the help of numerous volunteers and extremely generous donors, “Doc” has a home! There is now a hangar and museum for the B-29 in Wichita, Kansas where it lives when it isn’t on tour.
About B-29 Superfortress “Doc”
Doc is a B-29 Superfortress and one of 1,644 manufactured in Wichita during World War II. Since 1987 when Tony Mazzolini found Doc sitting and rotting away in the Mojave Desert, plans have been in the works to restore the historic warbird to flying status to serve as a flying museum.
**Please also note: Plans are in the works with the “Doc” team to sell rides either before or after the weekend of the Airshow. More details will be released after the logistics are finalized. We will let you know what the plan is in case you want to book a historic ride in the B-29.
