Ellington – History in Pictures
Here is a history lesson IN PICTURES of our favorite Airshow venue in the world.
For those of you who saw our last email or Facebook/Instagram post, we shared with you the rich and historic history of our favorite Airshow venue, Ellington Airport. We don’t want to leave this topic until we make sure you check out all of the amazing images we discovered while creating this story. Awesome and historic images of the airport, the city of Houston, and airplanes were not all that we discovered (although those are in abundance). We also saw armadillos, wrecks, and death defying maneuvers. Check out the photo gallery that was graciously provided by the Houston Airport System – CLICK HERE or the link below to see all of the amazing images.
Let’s face it, 105 years was a long time ago. These images are truly something special, not just to Houston history, but American history. Aviation was in its infancy, and we were in need of a location and group of people to help lead us into the next generation. Ellington was just that place. The men and women who trained here were just those people. Here are a few we didn’t post in the last email to give you and idea of what’s in store when you go to the photo gallery. There are so many great shots here. Which ones are your favorite?
