USN F/A-18 Super hornet ‘rhino’ demo team to bring the speed to H-town
What’s up with “Super Bug?” “Super Bug” comes from the combination of “Super” for the Super and “Bug” as in the Hornet part of the F/18 Super Hornet. The “Super Bug” is almost 1/3 larger than the previous F-18 versions. Incidentally, the previous A-D models of the Hornet are affectionately known as the “Baby Bugs.”
We will all have to wait until November for the highly anticipated release of a certain Tom Cruise film – Top Gun: Maverick. But, you don’t have to wait that long to see an F/A-18 Super Hornet up close. The US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet Demo Team is back in Houston and ready to show you firsthand what it can do!
“The demo flight profile highlights the mobility, versatility, and power of the most lethal, carrier-based Strike Fighter aircraft in the world, the F/A-18 Super Hornet, nicknamed the ‘Rhino’.”
Please take a few minutes to check out the video below, because it will bring a great BIG grin to your day! The actors in the movie do a LOT of their own stunts. Tom Cruise and the production staff were insistent on using real airplanes as much as possible. They use real airplanes for almost the entire film. The Super Hornet is by far the star of the movie (sorry, Tom :-)) and will be on full display for you, right here in Houston!
The video below shows behind the scenes footage. Check out the actors, including Cruise, training and learning how to fly with G-Force. We can’t wait to see the movie. And we can’t wait for you to see the Super Hornet demo here in Houston in October!
