Year in and year out, the number one survey request for the Airshow is warbirds, warbirds and more warbirds! We don’t know if many people are aware of this, but Ellington Airport is the host to not just one, but two, vintage warbird museums. Tucked away on the grounds of Ellington is an incredible hidden gem full of history and Vietnam War flying relics. That place is the Vietnam War Flight Museum.

We are so proud to work with the volunteers and staff of the Vietnam War Flight Museum every year. Together they, and owner Rick Sharpe, make magic happen in the skies and on the ramp at the Airshow. Here is more info on the museum and how and where to go visit them throughout the year.

About the Vietnam War Flight Museum

“The Vietnam War Flight Museum was founded in 2002 by Houston, TX aviator Rick Sharpe and is dedicated to educating the public about the service and sacrifice to the United States by the veterans of the Vietnam War.”

Tucked away on Blume Ave. on the property of Ellington Airport in a hangar that dates back to WWII, this museum has a collection of Vietnam-era aircraft that can’t be rivaled many other places in the United States. The current collection of airplanes in the museum consists of a Douglas A-1D Skyraider, BAC Jet Provost Mk.5A, Douglas A-26C ‘Invader’, Folland Gnat T.1, Miyokan-Gurevich MiG-21UM Mongol, Miyokan-Gurevich MiG-15bis Fagot, Miyokan-Gurevich MiG-17bis Fresco, and a Beechcraft V-35H Bonanza.
